Why is this a priority for the State/County/City? : The increased need for higher quality data on lower volume trunk highways and on the county and local system. Concerned about increase industrial activity that may be adversely affecting the long-term performance and life of local roads.

Project Type - MnDOT or LRRB / Research, Implementation or TRS:
Joint MnDOT/LRRB Research

This project would take the work started in the "Development of a Weigh-Pad-Based Portable Weigh-In-Motion System" (Report 201238) and put it into practice. Issues to be research would include development of a calibration proceedure or process. Long-term ruggedness of the sensors and the system. Applicability to extrapolate the short-term class and weight data out to develop annual numbers. Evaluate the use of this as a mobile enforcement tool.
