Implementation of Traffic Data Quality Verification for WIM Site

Why is this a priority for the State/County/City? : The usefullness of the WIM data is directly proportional to the quality of the data. Due to constrants on time and budgets it may not be possible to get a site recalibrated as quickly as is desired. Instead of just throwing out the data it would be of more use to adjust the values when it becomes apparent that the system is out or going out of calibration.

Project Type - MnDOT or LRRB / Research, Implementation or TRS:
MnDOT Implementation
Idea Status (moderator):
Develop implementation plan for TRIG meeting Feb. 27

This would be the implementation of CTS 12-26 Traffic Data Quality Verification and Sensor Calibration for Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) Systems. The system would be implemented to review the data quality of all of the MnDOT WIM sites. Criteria would have to be made for review at lower volume sites and in lower volume lanes. Finally, procedures and software would be developed to adjust the data when the systems were out of calibration.
